Imagine my day today losing state title game in final game at school and my son crying not wanting to take his Kelly jersey off. Damn glad I had shades on man. I would rather have been beaten in the stomach with a baseball bat than see my child hurt like that

We all need to come together, the kids are already doing that, I just wish the adults will. I was as big of a Raider fan in school, I love it, but I hope they will be the first to join on in when we get new schools and it closes like the rest. Until then I'll wear my shirt I had made, even though I hated the rival schools when we played them, I grew up and support them now with this whole issue.

Thats all fine and dandy, but it doesn't negate the fact its an extremely sad day in Big Stone. The walls of PVHS contain many, many fond memories for myself and surely every PVHS alum who posts on here and its a sad day to know its the last day in the long, illustrious history of POWELL VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL.

8 state championships in football; 1 state title in baseball; 1 state title in boys basketball; 2 state titles in track and field (that may be wrong, someone can correct me); more Region D and LPD titles than anyone can count. The athletic juggernaut that is PVHS is no more; may Union High School have the same success that PVHS has gained over the years.

Re: It Is What It Is

in the last 2 days I've seen two Eastside Spartins t-shitrs being worn around. It is a very sad day for all schools that are going away, be it Appy or PV, be it JJK or Pound, Be it Coeburn or St Paul. all those schools will be no more. no one is saying it isn't the right thing to do but it is still sad for those that went to, going to or like me, competed against them.

Me being a Gate City fan I cant help but feel the same way you guys do. I just hope the GC vs. Union football games will be as big a Rivalry as the GC/PV games have been. Going to be strange not seeing PV or Appy on the football schedule in Gate City. I forget just how many years straight we played Powell Valley but I know it has to be the longest running series Gate City had.

Re: It Is What It Is

I was doing some research the other day on the VHSL record book. What I found out is that every school but one in the county has a state champioship. St. Paul being the only one that doesn't, however they due have a runner up in softball in 93.

I'm going to go through the record book and see how many state title's and runner up's that all our school's have together. All sports. I'm going to include Burton. I'm talking Team titles. I'm willing to bet that number will be amazing. I wouldn't think that there wouldn't be another county in the state that could come close to what we will find out.

I'll try to have this done tonight or tomorrow.

The rivals that the new schools are going to make are going to be good. Looking very foward to it.
Central Warriors The start of a new ERA!!!!
